‘A Plethora of Pumpkins’ - 2020

An original painting by Romney Marsh artist Poppy Ellis, part of her new ‘POPPICELLI’ exhibition at Mccully & Crane ART.

A word from the artist:

“I was 12 when I fell in love with Botticelli's Primavera, the centre pages to a Reader Digest, 'Great Artists,' doorstop of a book. It's been a lifetime of love.
I am captured by the grace and poise, the fanciful costumes and the story telling. Far beyond the obvious, allegorical interpretations there are so many questions. Who is the Young Man in a Red Hat? What did Venus eat for lunch? Where did Artemis buy that weird dress?
I have used the great man as a springboard to bring to life to his sitters and I will probably go straight to hell!”

Acrylic on panel - framed
Dimensions: 94cm x 79cm
